Ever since we wrote We Here: Speak Our Truth for the journal Library Trends, Jennifer Brown, Sofia Leung, Marisa Méndez-Brady and I can’t stop the collaborations. Our next one is a workshop in April at the Association of College & Research Libraries conference in Cleveland, Ohio: Moving Beyond Race 101: Speculative Futuring for Equity. Here’s the description:

Much of the work around diversity, equity, and inclusion in libraries has either: focused on situations that rarely solicit input from marginalized communities, or is expected to be carried out by those already overburdened by the effects of higher education institutions built on whiteness. This panel will push beyond this framework by offering strategies and language to help move discussions around mentorship forward, both in the institutions of attendees and across the profession as a whole. Through collaborative storytelling tools and visual storytelling decks, we will collectively envision a speculative future for libraries that is inclusive and equity-based.
