Sickies Making Films: A Film Produced by Jennifer Ferretti
It is with great enthusiasm that we share an exciting upcoming event!
A love letter to the movies, SICKIES MAKING FILMS looks at society’s urge to censor films and asks why? Finding reasons both absurd and surprisingly understandable, the documentary uses the Maryland Board of Censors (1916-1981) as a lens, incorporating archival materials, classic film segments, and interviews with filmmakers and exhibitors, who were subjected to censorship, to provide a context for the way films are vetted and rated today. Plays with the short film 100 BLOWS, a mock blow-job tutorial.
The film was chosen as a 2019 CineKink Official Selection for the The 16th annual CINEKINK: NYC – “the kinky film festival!” – which “will feature a program of films and videos that cut across orientations to celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality.”
CineKink is an organization that encourages and promotes sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television, the festival showcases works ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to artsy experimental, mildly spicy to quite explicit – and everything in between.
For the full schedule, advance tickets, and information on the festival’s kick-off party (April 3) and concluding awards ceremony/party (April 7), both of which take place at other venues, visit: www.cinekink.com
